Here are some important next steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step One: Call Your Dentist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While there are many reasons you may be experiencing a loose adult tooth, it is important to be seen by your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dentistportagein.com\/emergency-dentistry.html\">emergency dentist<\/a> as soon as possible. Please call the office directly for faster service, explain the situation, and follow their instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step Two: Use Caution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While you wait to be seen by your dentist, it\u2019s very important to take care of your loose tooth by following these care instructions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Do not wiggle or play with your loose tooth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t eat anything chewy or crunchy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To keep your tooth clean, brush and floss around it, but do not brush the tooth itself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gently rinse your mouth with warm saltwater.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Possible Causes of Loose Permanent Teeth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While your dentist can best diagnose your exact issue, here are a few reasons why permanent teeth could come loose:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Orthodontic treatment (this is normal, temporary, and should not require any intervention).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gum disease.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accidental injury.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medical conditions like diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, HIV, or cancer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pregnancy or menopause (usually temporary).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stress.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, although you may not know what is causing your tooth to loosen, it\u2019s imperative that you see your emergency dentist right away to prevent it from completely falling out.
